Research
Our physicians all hold faculty appointments with Washington University, which enables them to provide you with the highest quality care while contributing to research on stem cell transplantation. Research is aimed at improving treatment as well as decreasing complications and recurrence of disease. All transplant patients have the option to participate in various clinical or research protocols while at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Protocols are research studies established to determine the best treatment to stop or cure a disease. Whether or not you're eligible for one of the protocols depends on factors such as your age and medical condition. Participation in any protocol is voluntary. Before any treatment is scheduled, you'll be given a verbal explanation of what would be involved, followed by a consent form. A consent form is a legal document that provides you with a written explanation of treatment options, their risks and benefits.
